Task 1 – P7 Produce a personal development plan Begin by identifying at least two areas for development - one technical skill (e.g. develop spreadsheet formula skills) and at least one 'soft' skill (e.g. improve presentation skills). Use the PDP template and for each development need you should identify two tasks that will help you meet your target. You will review these targets and set new targets as you follow the plan. Task 2 – P8 Follow a personal development plan To show that you have been following your personal development plan organise and present the evidence demonstrated at each review (examples include screen prints, witness statements, peer reviews) Task 3 – M3 Explain how an awareness of learning style can aid personal development “If you are aware of your preferred learning style how can you use that knowledge to make your learning more effective?” Investigate learning styles and explain how an awareness of your own learning style will help you in your BTEC IT course. Remember to include examples.

PROGRESS REVIEW
Part 1: Strengths
Being organized with my work
I needed to improve my organizational skills by being tidy with my
work so that I don’t lose files, submit the wrong files and be able to
hand the correct files in on time. By doing this I set out my units and
work into suitable folders with the correct names on each one, this
made it easy to keep track of where I was in regards to assignments
and what needed to be done.

Problem solving
By managing my time more effectively, I’ve been able to hand in
all of my assignments on time by giving each one a set amount of
time to complete and to make sure there is enough detail. By using
my step by step approach to each assignment using the “Explain, evaluate and example” for
every task that’s needed, I’ve passed every one so far.

Part 2: Weaknesses
Procrastinating
To overcome procrastination I made sure that I would create a time management plan to keep
myself from becoming distracted from doing my work while I’m at college. I also knew that I
would procrastinate more at home then I would at college, so I made sure to always do work
while I was at college and reward myself with doing what I want at home. This way I put a lot of
time and effort into every hour I have at college to complete my assignments with the hope of
being able to play games and relax at home without worrying about doing homework.

Easily give up
At times I have felt like giving up on the course when I was feeling a little stressed on doing
multiple assignments at once while having to work at a job in the evenings. To prevent myself
from giving up, I took into account my solutions to other weaknesses I had such as
procrastinating, problem solving and time management. By planning out my time and taking
enough breaks to refresh my brain, It has helped with preventing me from giving up and to think
about my future rather than my present.
