Do not induce Vomiting or use syrup of Ipecac 2. Call Poison Help/Poison Control Centers 3. *Can give child milk/water to dilute poison while rushing to the hospital *Nursing Handoff- Should include only important brief information about the client’s condition during the past shift Example: -Recent changes on medications/care, PRN medications, abnormal vital signs or abnormal assessments for monitoring *Components of Malpractice - Duty, Breach of duty, Causation, Harm or Injury Electrolytes Normal Range Potassium 3.5 - 5.0 Sodium 135 - 145 Calcium 9.0 - 10.5 Magnesium 1.5 - 2.0 Phosphorous 3.0-4.0 *Regular Sodium intake= 1,500mg (per AHA) *Presenting Symptoms of UTI or Pyelonephritis- FEVER, NAUSEA & DYSURIA – Check the urine for infection by collecting urine specimen MIDSTREAM, CLEAN-CATCH *Patient on V-TACH and unresponsive -Start CPR -> attach Defib -> Shock -> Resume CPR-> Shock -> Resume CPR -> Administer Epi -> Continue CPR *Flexion Contractures- Most comm contractures due to immobility *Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) Precautions 1. Early symptom – Numbness on affected area or patient states that “funny feeling/weird feeling” Homan’s Sign- Pain in the calf upon dorsiflexion of the ankle 2. If patient is already experiencing symptoms of DVT do not encourage to move, walk or massage the area to prevent Dislodging the thrombus that can lead to Pulmonary Embolism (Sx: SOB Chest pain Diziness)
