Psychological attributes
DEFINITION:
psychological attributes are the characteristics of a person
that influence one’s behaviour and thoughts.
- Psychological attributes are important to consider
when trying to find the reason of one’s behaviour.
- They are involved in very simple phenomenon like
time taken to react to a stimuli.
Domains of psychological attributes:
Psychological attributes are complex and expressed in
terms of dimensions.
1) Intelligence: it is the global capacity to understand
the world, think rationally and, and use the available
resources effectively when faced with challenges.
- Intelligence tests provide a global measure to a
person’s general cognitive competence.
- Students with low intelligence are less likely to
perform good in school, however, their success in life
is not only associated with their intelligence score
only.
, 2) Aptitude: it refers to an individual’s underlying
potential for acquiring skills.
- Aptitude tests are used are used to predict what an
individual will be able to do if given proper
environment and training.
- For example-
a person with a high mechanical aptitude can profit
from appropriate training and do well as an
