Cardiogenic Shock Case Study _Question and Answer
Carlos Adams presented to the ED three days ago with a STEMI. He was taken right away to the cardiac catheterization lab and had a PCI with one DES placed in the LAD. He was placed on aspirin and clopidogrel and admitted to the ICU. Upon entering the room for a shift assessment, Carlos Adams complains of shortness of breath and difficulty breathing. His vital signs are HR 120 bpm, BP 160/92 mm Hg, RR 30 breaths/min, and 02saturation on RA is 86%. He is placed on nasal cannula and the head of the bed is elevated. His lung sounds have bilateral crackles.
