HINDBRAIN (Medulla, Pons, Cerebellum)
Medulla
-Is an extension of the spinal cord and reveals many similarities with the spinal
cord. The nerve nuclei in the medulla act as a reflex centre for certain life
processes such as breathing control of heartbeat, blood pressure, skeletal
muscle tone.

Pons
-Contains sensory and motor nerve tracts
-Plays a major role in motor behaviour.

Cerebellum
-The co ordination of muscle movement is the main function.

MIDBRAIN
-Houses the reflex centre of the visual system
-It controls automatic blinking of the eyes , the size, the pupil and lens
-It contains auditory reflex centres, which adjust hearing to sound volume.
