12.1 Normale temperatuurregulatie
Om stoornissen in de temperatuurregulatie goed te kunnen begrijpen, is inzicht in de gang van zaken onder
normale omstandigheden noodzakelijk. Daarom volgt eerst een overzicht van de belangrijkste feiten die voor dit
hoofdstuk van belang zijn. Voor uitgebreidere informatie wordt verwezen naar het boek Anatomie en Fysiologie
uit de serie Basiswerken.

Voor het optimaal functioneren van de fysiologie van de mens is het nodig dat er in het lichaam een temperatuur
van ongeveer 37°C heerst. Deze temperatuur komt tot stand doordat de aanvoer van warmte in het lichaam,
afkomstig uit de verschillende vormen van energie die het lichaam ter beschikking staan, in evenwicht wordt
gehouden met het afgeven van warmte aan de buitenwereld.
