MRI questions with complete solutions 2023 updated already passed!Slide 2-History of MRIs - correct answer The first original device was created in 1945 when two groups of scientists led by Felix Bloch and Edward Purcell developed NMR systems otherwise known as nuclear magnetic resonance. In 1973, an imaging method using NMR systems provided the first magnetic resonance image or MRI. The most notable improvement since these images were created would be the development of being able to look at the images in a three dimensional perspective. Slide 3-What is an MRI - correct answer Magnetic resonance imaging, otherwise known as MRI, is a technique using magnetic field and radio waves to create thorough images of body structures such as organs and tissues in the human body. Slide 4-Picture - correct answer This machine is a MR750w GEM MRI-which is the manufacturer I mentioned in my research paper. These machines magnetic and clearly tube like. Before a person comes into this room, they are instructed to take off all metal or else it would obscure the images being taken. I had a top on and it had these metal lines on the top, and the doctors thought something was wrong, so before going into these machines, it is important to take off anything metal. After that, the person is instructed to lie down right here and stay very still. If movement occurs, it could blur the images. Slide 5-Prepping for an MRI - correct answer Besides taking off anything metal from the body, there really isn't anything else to do to prepare. However, even though this is rare, a sedative may be permitted to calm down patients who are very sensitive to claustrophobia. Headphones are also allowed to calm the patients as well. Slide 6-What is an MRI made up of? - correct answer The functioning parts of a MRI involves a magnet, gradient coils, RF equipment, and a computer. The magnet has to be able to penetrate through parts of the body. Four magnets are placed perpendicular to each other to produce a consistent magnetic field used during the process of making images. The gradient coils provide data and are wrapped around the cylinder that encircles the patient. They are used to absorb radiation and give off a signal. The computer receives and controls these signals and is first translated through an analog-digital convertor. Slide 7-What happens during and MRI? How does it work? - correct answer The patient lies down in the tube like machine and while the person is lying down, radio waves are directed at him or her. It pulses radio wave energy to make pictures of organs and structures inside the body. This process of taking these images lasts from 15 minutes to an hour
