Waarom STEM?

S (Science/wetenschap): TP’er doen onderzoek om echte problemen van echte mensen te
begrijpen. Bijvoorbeeld: onderzoek naar eenzaamheid onder jongeren, diagnostisch
onderzoek, enz.;

, T (technology/ technologie): TP’er lossen de problemen op voor mensen. Technologie is
steeds vaker de oplossing of is er onderdeel van. Bijvoorbeeld: VR in de zorg;

E (engineering/ programmeren) TP’er werken samen, ook met mensen uit de technische
hoeken. Bijvoorbeeld: TP’er kunnen helpen bij het vormgeven van de inhoud van serious
games;

M (mathematics/ wiskunde): TP’er maken gebruik van data om nieuwe inzichten op te doen.
Bijvoorbeeld: TP’er kunnen data van twitter gebruiken om te onderzoeken hoe mensen over
de avondklok denken;

- Veranderende wereld -> we weten niet hoe de toekomstige arbeidsmarkt eruitziet.
- Nieuwe vaardigheden: de STEM zijn 21st century skills.

Wat is Computational thinking?
Het is een van de 21st century skills

Probleem ontrafelen en oplossingen formuleren zodat je een computer, of mens, de
opdracht kunt geven het probleem effectief op te lossen.

Het helpt bij:
§ Eigen probleemoplossend vermogen
§ Creatief denken
§ Automatiseren van werkzaamheden

Specialisaties en STEM
- Specialisatie Arbeid en Organisatiepsychologie: bij werving en selectie iemand binnen
een VR omgeving testen.
- Specialisatie Gezondheidspsychologie: gebruik maken van log data uit eHealth
omgeving om zo adherentie te verbeteren. (Adherentie betekent de mate waarin
adviezen uit een richtlijn of protocol worden opgevolgd).
- Specialisatie gedrag en technologie: fysiologische data gebruiken om inzicht te
krijgen in hoe technologie wordt ervaren (bijvoorbeeld zweetsecretie meten tijdens
VR)
