Provides the parasympathetic
innervation of the lungs

Functional pedicle:

Pulmonary artery

2 pulmonary veins

A main bronchus

Nutritional pedicle

Bronchial vessels

Nerves + lymphatics

Pulmonary ligament

Where the parietal and visceral
pleura meet

Important:

Right anterior, left superior

Indicates the position of
pulmonary artery to the
bronchus

The root of the lungs are the
bundles of arteries, veins and
bronchus
