Definitions
• Endothermic - animals that regulate their own body
temperature using internal sources such as fat stores.
Eg - dog.
• Ectothermic - animals that do not regulate their
temperature by themselves but use their external
environment. Eg - leopard gecko
• Temperature - the level of heat present in an area.

5 needs
• Need for a suitable diet
• Need for a suitable environment
• Need to be housed with, or apart, from other animals
• Need to be protected from pain, suffering, injury and
disease.
