Oviparous - where an animal lays eggs that hatch after they
have been payed by the parents, little embryo tic
development happens in the female.
Viviparous - Where the development of a embryo happens
inside the parent, this brings forth live young.
Ovoviviparous - producing by the means of eggs which are
hatched within the body of the parent.
Oviparous
• Mainly fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and some
mammals.
• An evolution strategy for reproduction
• Can lay one r more eggs
• Eggs can be laid fertilised or not fertilised
• Fertilisation can be internal or external
• The development of the embryo takes place outside the
female
• The embryo receives its nutrients from the egg yolk
• The survival is lower them viviparous
Viviparous
• Viviparous give birth to fully developed living young
animals
• They do not lay eggs
• The fertilisation of the ovum is always internal
• The development of the embryo occurs inside the
mother
• The embryo receives nutrients from the mother
• The probability of survival is greater
Ovo-viviparous
• Produce young via eggs
• Incubate their eggs and hatch eggs inside of the body
• The embryo receives its nutrients from the egg yolk not
the mother.
• The animals are born alive directly from the mothers
body
