Introduction According to Fleming & Mills (1992), the term learning style “refers to all the components that might affect a person's ability to learn”. Even though researchers differ on their view of the most important components that affect a person’s ability to learn, some of these preferences include left/right brain dominance, sensory components (including the way a person likes to receive and deliver communication), physical needs, social needs, other environmental preferences and attitudes. Broken down, VARK, in an abbreviation that stands for Visual, Aural, Read/write, and Kinesthetic. The way every student learn things is peculiar. So many factors including the environment they find themselves in, the cognitive factors contribute to their learning styles. As a result of this, it is imperative to structure classroom strategies that incorporate the uniqueness in different learners styles. The VARK model definitely creates the opportunity for teachers to do just that. VARK utilizes the idea that students retain and process information differently and have “preferred learning modes” that allow them to learn their best. “Allowing students to access information in terms they are comfortable with will increase their academic confidence,” (Fleming & Mills, 1992). Attempt will be made to compare current preferred learning styles and VARK identified learning styles. Emphasis will be placed on the importance of learning styles for both learner and educator, as well as determine the correlation to behavioral change with a bid to achieving desired outcomes......................
