§2.1 Het verschil tussen marketing en sales
Marketing is een allesomvattend containerbegrip en kent 4 hoofdtaken te weten:

(1) Inzicht verkrijgen in de markt, in segmenten/ doelgoepen in de markt, in hun behoeften

(2) Produceren van product-diensten-belevenis formules die aansluiten bij de behoeften

(3) Organiseren, presenteren en verkopen van de product-diensten-belevenis formules

(4) Distribueren van de product-diensten-belevenis formules

Vanwege het goed uitvoeren van bovenstaande taken kan een (non) prorift organisatie bestaan.

De Marketingmix bestaat uit 7 P’s te weten: place, process, people, physical evidencing, price,
product en promotion.

Sales is een onderdeel van de P van promotion in de vorm van sales promotion en personal selling.

Sales promotion : de aanbiedingen die worden getoond via displays, posters, advertenties

Personal selling : de verkoper die verkoopt aan de consument
