NR511 Wk 3 Case Study Part 2
NR511 Wk 3 Case Study Part 2Primary Diagnosis: Allergic Conjunctivitis a. The patient has a history of seasonal allergies. He is not currently taking his two allergy medications (loratadine and fluticasone). He is experiencing intermittent nasal congestion and rhinorrhea. His eyes are itching, red, tearing, and have a foreign body sensation in them “like sand.” His physical exam shows pale and boggy turbinates with mild-to-moderate swelling and clear drainage. He does not have any purulent drainage to his eyes and his symptoms are bilateral, which indicate more of an allergic conjunctivitis versus viral or bacterial. He is attending college in Illinois, which is a different climate with different allergens than he may be used to in his home state of Phoenix, which could be causing his exacerbation of his allergy symptoms (Fraenkel, L. Lee, & G. Lee, 2017).
