Paragraph 1: What the Census might have called me in 1790 & 2010: There is not many choices to be labeled under the census in 1970. I would be categorized under “free white males, free white female” (Race and ethnicity in the U.S. Census, 2020). During that time, if people weren’t cauterized as white, they would be either “slaves” or “All other free person”. As of today, the Census Bureau classifications changed, instead of focusing mainly on the skin color, it focused more on multicultural individuals and how each person might have more than one race (Kendall, 2018).
