psychology as empirical science: Structuralism, Functionalism, or Cognitivism.
Empirical science – supported by evidence from the senses or elements or experience
Structuralism – theory of consciousness by wilhem wundt and Titchener, structure of the Mind
- The 3 aims: analysis, synthesis, explanation – would never pass the first aim
- Use of lab experiments and equipment to gather empirical evidence
- Use of introspection then self-reports– despite Wundt rejecting
