Advocacy through Legislation obesity prevention.
Problem, Those Affected, Current Ramifications, and Consequences if Problem Continues Advocacy in general is defined as any actions that plead or argue for a cause, idea, or policy. Nurse advocates for their patients every day at their workplace, and communities. American Nurses Association believes that advocacy is the pillar of Nursing (Helbig, 2018). An effective way of pursuing advocacy is through legislation. Advocacy and legislation are of utmost importance in the advancement of the profession and patient care. Obesity is a global epidemic that affects children and adults resulting in complex health issues, morbidity, and mortality. The purpose of this paper is to advocate for healthy food for all, and early care and education (ECE) legislation to prevent obesity among the District of Columbia (DC) residents.
