PHOTOSYNTHESIS WORD EQUATION BALANCED EQUATION FOR PS

IMPORTANCE OF ITS PROCESS AND ITS CONVERSION OF LIGHT ENERGY TO CHEMICAL ENERGY

In PS in green plants, light is used to convert: H2O+ CO2 + minerals → O2 + energy-rich compounds.

PRACTICAL TO MEASURE ITS RATE USING POND WEED

METHOD
- set up apparatus as shown
- place lamp 10cm from pondweed
o
- lamp on; count n of bubbles produced in 1 min
- repeat with a lamp at diff. distance of pondweed

INDEPENDENT VARIABLE
- light intensity

HOW TO TEST A LEAF FOR STARCH HOW IT CAN BE USED TO SAY IF PS IS TAKING PLACE

-boil leaf to kill the leaf and stop PS Leaves have:
-add ethanol to take away the leaf color
green parts where the cells contain chlorophyll
-rinse leaf with warm water to remove extra
ethanol because it is flammable
white parts where there is no chlorophyll

This is evidence as chlorophyll is required for photosynthesis.

EXPLAIN WHAT LIMITING FACTORS IS HOW EACH AFFECT PS RATE

Any factor that slows down the rate of a process light if low → low photosynthesis

LAW: when a process depends on 2/+ factors, the rate is limited by the CO2 if more → more photosynthesis
factor which is shortest in supply.
temp too hot → ps rate ↓ or it can die

CARBOHYDRATES LIPIDS PROTEINS

CHEM. ELEMENTS carbon, oxygen, hydrogen carbon, oxygen, hydrogen C, oxygen, sulphur, nitrogen

HOW PLANTS USE GLUCOSE

Respiration, making fruits, cell walls, proteins, stored in seeds and stored in starch
