Cultural and Spiritual Aspects of Nursing Care
Religious beliefs associated with different cultures can influence healthcare decisions. Different ethnic groups in the United States are attached to specific religious beliefs and values that shape their healthcare approach. For instance, Indians belong to a part of a case system referred to as Hinduism. It is classified as the oldest religion in the world. Hindus believe that only one God can have multiple manifestations as an image or deity. Some Hindu deities include Shiva, Durga, Rama, and Krishna (Suchday et al., 2018). The popular religious belief embedded in Hinduism is the existence of a lifecycle – birth, death, and reincarnation. Hindus believe that the world is governed by Karma or a complex belief that every action has a counter-reaction.
