, THE WALTON HALL MUSEUM OF ODDS & ENDS
WEBSITE DESIGN METHODOLOGY

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this project as outlined by the needs of The Walton Hall
Museum of Odds & Ends (WH-Moe) is to undertake the implementation
towards the first steps of redesign for their website. In keeping with
other cultural institutes, WH-Moe aims to engage with its audience via a
digital presence. The report will define terms and how it is relevant to
web development.

A. STANDARDS-COMPLIANCE
Standards-compliance in web design refers to the specifications
developed that focus less on front end website appearance and focus
more on backend structure and how adhering to set standards by the
W3C formalise, strengthen and bring consistency to the web (Scacca,
2020).

The World Wide Web Consortium (W3C) is an international organisation
who develop standards for the World Wide Web. Compliance of W3C
standards effectively means that the HTML (Hyper Text Mark-Up
Language) and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) coding when designing a
website meet W3C standards. Standardised coding makes it possible for
developers and designers to all speak the same language for websites
and software design, without which can cause a lot of problems for
website performance (Scacca, 2020).

HTML - Provides the structure of the website, when using the wireframe
provided for the WH-Moe website, the HTML structure for the landing
page is a navigation menu, page title, picture gallery and a news sidebar.
Now, to add the appearance CSS is used.
