P2: Describe examples of how the internet is used by
selected contrasting businesses
The internet is used by many businesses in order to communicate with their
customers; here are five examples of businesses that use the internet for
different purpose. Medic.Animal use cloud computing amongst many other
businesses in order make use of cloud-based services they use - such as email,
customer relationship management (CRM), payroll systems, online back-up, web
hosting, application management, printing, invoicing apps, and collaboration
tools without having the need to purchase hardware or software services.
Microsoft on the other hand uses the benefits of mobile apps in order to
flexibility. 02 also use the internet by providing their customers with the
opportunity to contact their employees directly via online chat. Businesses such
as B&Q and Nike provide the opportunity for their customers to be able to
customise their own product. Below are detailed methods of how ASOS and
Badger use the internet and how they compare with one and another.

Both ASOS and Badger have different methods of communicating to their
consumer markets: ASOS adopts ways which are more practical and allow
customers to be able to interact with the businesses website. This is through
their online business which enables customers internationally to order from their
website. This is further implemented on by their use of the different currency
which allows different customers to be able to see how much the products are
worth no matter which country they are in. ASOS has also used the internet to be
able to assist the business in dealing with different customers by allowing
customers to choose languages in which the business can appear as to promote
excellent customer service and communicate to all of their customers in their
mother tongue. ASOS has also used the internet for their own procurement of
products by creating a link for their blog in which customers are free to review
and comment about the business itself and their products which is a method in
which ASOS are able to influence other potential customers and develop public
relations through communication with their existing customers. Through
customers reviewing their products and business give the opportunity for ASOS
to be able to gain research from these so that they are able to develop their
business whether it is relevant to their website or their products. ASOS has also
created a facebook page where customers can write and read reviews aswell as
'like' the page which is beneficial because it allows their public relations to be
aware of their business as part of marketing and advertising and also keep their
existing customers informed about new stock details and new collections. ASOS
has also created a navigation link on their website which allows consumers to
email them in regards to any information they need or any requests that they
require this enables ASOS to implement on customer service in a healthy manner
because they are focused on their customers needs and requirements as ASOS is
an online shopping website. ASOS also has a mobile website which enables
customers to be able to shop whilst on the move so even if customers do not
have any access to a computer or a laptop customers are still able to purchase
from them; this is an effective way of promoting their business and further
