They are likely to follow the procedure step by step without adjusting it to meet a patient’s unique needs Inexperienced Typically has weak competencies Inflexible attitudes Ex: positioning to minimize the patient’s pain or mobility restrictions. For example: Referring to hospital policy and procedure for guidelines in inserting a Foley catheter. May not be able to modify for patients with unique needs. Answers to complex problems as either right or wrong. Learns to accept the diverse opinions and values or experts. Inexperience, weak competencies, inflexible attitudes restrict a person’s ability to move to the next level of critical thinking. Complex Critical Thinking – Begin to rely less on experts and trust their own decisions more.
