Assignment: unit 12 p1 and p2
Teacher: Kanayo Isiekwena

Introduction
In this task, I will be describing the role internet marketing has within a
modern marketing context. I will also describe how two selected
organisations use internet marketing. The organisations I have chosen are
eBay and Argos.

Definition of internet marketing
Internet marketing is when a company’s introduce the products and services
online. Many companies that aim to gain a lot of profit intend to bring their
products or service to the market using the internet. This is because it’s a
profitable way of increasing the organisation’s sales as well as increasing their
number of customers. The Internet is a simple and quick way for the business to
communicate with the customers. Businesses can go online because they can
easily promote and bond with their customers plus it’s also a handy way to
increase the company’s SMART objectives. A few advantages are:

 That marketing research information can be easily collected through
internet surveys.

 It enables new methods of promotion such having links from other sites
and banner advertising.

 Organisation can become marketing orientated through being more
responsive and flexible. The use of e-mail allows better access to key
managers for customers to provide their views and pass on comments.

An explanation of the marketing mix (7 Ps) and
how internet marketing integrates in the
different tactics.
The 7 Ps of the marketing mix are used by businesses to create a tactical mix
designed to achieve the business aims and objectives. The classic marketing mix
consist of only 4 Ps, whiles the extended modern one consist of seven. The seven
Ps are:

 Product

 Price

 Place

 Promotion

 People

 Processes

 Physical evidence

EBay is the world's online marketplace where buyers and sellers come
together in order to buy or sell. A seller can list items on eBay and choose
to accept only bids or to offer the buy it now option, which enables buyers
to purchase the item straight away at a fixed price. In an online auction,
the buyer with the highest bid becomes the winner.

Argos offers a Check and Reserve service where you can check if the item
is available, reserve it online and go pick it up. Argos stores, known for
their wide range of items are located all over UK and you can visit their
site to find the nearest store to you.

Products –

EBay can provide customers with good deals on many products online.
Products such as an iPhone 5c are sold at reasonable and affordable prices
compared to the products average retail prices. Also, eBay is an
organisation which mainly consists of products being sold from customer
to customer.

Argos can also provide customers with good product online and in stores.
However, products may be expensive compared to eBay as these products
are brand new and are directly from a business to a customer.
