Federal Board Class 10 Chapter 6
Computer and Logic Gates
Short Question Answer
What are logic gates?
Ans: A logic gate is a device that acts as a building block
for digital circuits. They perform basic logical functions
that are fundamental to digital circuits.
Define Truth table.
Ans: A truth table is a table or chart used to represent a
digital logic circuit. It shows output for all possible
combinations of inputs using 0 for low and 1 for high.
Define Boolean function.
Ans. A Boolean function is an expression formed with
binary variables, the logical operators OR, AND send NOT,
parenthesis and equal sign.
Iv.What is Karnaugh map? Why we use it?
Ans: A Karnaugh map (K-map) is a pictorial form of truth
table used to simplify the algebraic expressions in Boolean
functions without having to resort to complex theorems or
equation manipulations. It is used for simplifying Boolean
algebra expressions.
, v.Draw three variable Karnaugh map for variables
X,Y and Z.
Long Question /Answers
Q1. Draw the graphical symbols of AND ,OR ,
NOT ,NAND, and NOR gates and their function.
Ans: The AND gate is so named because, if 0 is called
"false" and 1 is called "true," the gate acts in the same way
as the logical "and" operator. The following illustration and
table show the circuit symbol and logic combinations for an
AND gate The output is "true" when both inputs are "true."
Otherwise, the output is "false." In other words, the output
is 1 only when both inputs one AND two are 1.
