Assignment 5 will also address all work that is covered in units 1 to 4 of MTE 1501.
You will be asked to demonstrate your knowledge and skills on the following:
The history, views and uses of mathematics in various civilizations across the
world;
Approaches to teaching mathematics and levels of learner engagement in
the instruction;
Conceptual and procedural knowledge, mathematical proficiency and
construction of mathematics ideas;
Number concepts, number representation, place value, mathematical
operations and real numbers;
2-Dimensional shapes and 3-Dimensional objects
Instructions
Before attempting to write Assignment 5 you must read the Units 1-4 of MTE 1501.
Ensure that you read each section of these units with understanding. When
answering the Assignment 5 questions try to show all your work, and in cases where
diagrams are required to answer your question you must use a pencil (a pencil is
only used for diagrams, not to answer the questions). You may work with your peers
when reading and discussing the work presented in Units 1-4, but you are expected
to present your Assignment 5 as your own work (individually attempted/ written
work). Avoid using free hand diagrams where it will be required for you to use a
ruler. Last but not least, copying from other student(s) is strictly not allowed.
Students submitting identical copies of each work of Assignment 5 will be penalized
severely.
