Prinsjesdag
Dear readers,
I am happy to tell you that this blog will be the start of something beautiful. Together with
three other members of Global News, we will keep you updated on current news topics.

Prinsjesdag, also known as Budget Day for foreigners, takes place on the third Tuesday of

glass carriage to attend a special meeting of the States-General (the first and second chamber).
The parliamentary year in the Netherlands officially starts on Prinsjesdag when the King
delivers the speech from the throne. This speech is known as “de troonrede” and contains the
government’s key plans for the year ahead. The “Miljoenennota” and the “Rijksbegroting” are
two indispensable parts of Prinsjesdag.
Miljoenennota 2022
In the Miljoenennota, the future developments, most important plans and choices of the
cabinet for the upcoming year are displayed. It informs the citizens on which projects and
services their country’s income will be spent. Therefore, the Miljoenennota reflects the
financial and economic situation of the Netherlands. On Prinsjesdag, the Minister of Finance
