Why is vitamin K important in a child’s diet?

There are two types of vitamin K such as; Vitamin K1 and Vitamin K2. Your body
needs vitamin K in order to produce the proteins that work through out the
body’s to help with blood clotting process , to help ensure that this doesn’t
happen badly . Vitamin K provides within a diet , is important for helping your
blood to clot and to heal cuts and grazes. As It's important for blood clotting and
healthy bones and also has other functions within the body. Child will get vitamin
K from green leafy vegetables like broccoli and spinach, also from eggs and
beans. The bacteria in your body also make vitamin K. Its very important to
maintain these levels to all stay the same, As having the same amount of
vitamin K each day to obtain these Levels. As The body needs vitamin K to help
produce prothrombin, that is a protein that the body provides.

What foods are vitamin k Found in?

Vitamin K can be found in many types of foods such as;
 Green leafy vegetables like : kale, and green leaf lettuces
 Vegetables such as Brussels sprouts, broccoli, cauliflower, and cabbage.
 Fish, liver, meat, eggs, and cereals (contain smaller amounts)
 Fruits such as kiwi, Blackberries, blueberries



Examples of snacks that’s are high in vitamin K :

 A salad with green lettuce leaves (ice burg)
 Anything with eggs

What can happen if a child is low in vitamin K:

Vitamin K deficiency includes excessive bleeding. But Bear in mind that bleeding
may happen in areas other than at a cut or wound. The bleeding may also be
apparent to someone who may bruises very easily. If you’re vitamin K deficient,
your body doesn’t have enough of these proteins.
