Inleiding
Longtumoren kunnen worden onderverdeeld in kleincellige tumoren
(Small Cell Lung Carcinoma: SCLC) en niet-kleincellige tumoren (Non-
Small Cell Lung Carcinoma: NSCLC). Niet-kleincellige tumoren zijn verder onderverdeeld in
het plaveiselcelcarcinoom, het adenocarcinoom en het grootcellig ongedifferentieerd
carcinoom. Daarnaast zijn er nog tientallen zeldzame vormen van longkanker.

Het adenocarcinoom en het grootcellig ongedifferentieerd carcinoom. Het is een van de vele
vormen van niet kleinschalige longkanker (Nationaalkompas, 2014)

Epidemiologie
Jaarlijks overlijden meer dan 7.000 mannen en 1.200 vrouwen aan deze vorm van kanker.
