Introduction
In this assignment I will writing a report on Nestle and investigate the benefits and drawbacks of
their CSR policy. I will then write how Nestle has sought recognition from a third party and how this
improved their reputation. After this, I will analyse Nestle’s competitive advantage and then
evaluate the role of their CSR policy and how the external body played a role in helping the business
get recognition. Nestle is known to have a CSR policy which includes becoming a waste-free
business, increasing their recycling, helping the community and helping the environment.
Nestle S.A is a multinational confectionary/food company who is known to be one of the dominant
figures in the confectionary market. Nestle has a diversified it’s products, where they sell a wide
portfolio of products which includes baby foods, medical foods, bottled water, coffee, dairy products
and a more. In addition, it’s known to have a good brand reputation and have sold over 1 .1 billion of
their products. These include Nespresso, Kit Kat, Smarties and more.
Benefits of a CSR policy
Corporate social responsibility is defined as when a business commits to helping the environment,
social concerns and other types of activity which helps to increase a business’s CSR image. It’s
important for a business to adhere to their CSR policy because it can increase the brand reputation
of the business which shows you care about the environmental/social concerns around you rather
than just making money as a business. Another reason why it’s important is that it can give the
business a good reputation as they are contributing in making a change towards issues affecting
them.
