African Philosophy and Education
1.1) Define African Philosophy

African philosophy shows to the questions asked around the African culture or by
people on the African continent about problems that can affect the African people.
African philosophy should always be based on the African problem and how and if it
can be solved in a way to preserve the African culture, and traditions. African
philosophy is what it means to be African and making sense of the experiences and
enactments. It also means that African philosophy arises from African thought,
practises, and traditions.

Higgs, P & Waghid, Y. 2017. A Reader in Philosophy of Education. Juta: Cape Town. (page:1)

1.2) Explain why Waghid and Higgs (2017) adopted the view “mutual
attunement”.

Mutual attunement can be defined as when a theory or practice serve each other
equally. A theory is simply not just set on a person’s experience but also ideas that
can be justifiable

The notion of practice and theory has been intertwined and they walk hand in hand.
Therefore, a person alter through their experiences and pedagogical encounters
when they practice it. Practices can be modified when a theory of human
engagement involves only listening without questioning to a more productive way of
changing to engagement and critical thinking
