As the therapist is present, the clients will be directed in the alleviation of their suppressed emotions by working through experiences from the past that induced the negative feelings, which functions to lessen issues present in the family caused by suppressed emotions. • Narrative family therapy corresponds to the form of therapy in which the issues and conflict which an individual is experiencing is viewed independent of that person as it prompts individuals to focus and manage their skills and abilities with the intent of lessening the issues and conflict that are present in their life. Clients of narrative therapy are considered to be the expert, where the therapist only works with the client with the intent of assisting, guiding, and adding to the client's own development and healing. This is because clients are considered to have a greater knowledge and understanding about themselves, in order for them to alter their behaviors and thinking patterns. Narrative therapy is based on the concept that individual's have stories in their life and telling the story and associating it with meaning, the cause, and problems allows individuals to tell their story and order their thoughts and reality.
