Introduction

My name is Rahel Akram. As mentioned previously, my local newspaper has been publishing
a series of insights into businesses in my area. In this assignment, I will research a range of
job roles for my chosen business, TK Maxx. I will choose an actual job role that would be
appropriate for me to apply for now or in the future. I will then need to research about TK
Maxx and analyse the requirements for my chosen job role. Using this research, I will then
need to complete a portfolio that backs up my application for the job role and that can be
submitted to my peers for a review.

TK Maxx
As mentioned previously, TK Maxx has over 14,000 employees as of 2020 according to ‘The
Guardian’. As mentioned previously, TJ Maxx has a huge presence in the UK, with its chain
being called TK Maxx. TK Maxx was founded in 1994 as is headquartered in Hertfordshire.
According to, ‘eccormerceDB’, Tk Maxx had a revenue of £74 million in 2020. According to
‘Statista’, TK Maxx have 349 stores in the UK. TK Maxx is a continually growing business.
According to ‘Fashion Network’, TK Maxx had reported a 10.6% increase from 2021 in
annual turnover in 2022. The reason why I have chosen TK Maxx is because this is the
business I had used previously.

& Recruitment Activities

Job Roles in TK Maxx
In TK Maxx, there are many jobs available for applicants to choose from. One job role that
can be found in TK Maxx is the consumer communications manager. As the consumer
communications manager, you'll work closely with a variety of internal and external
stakeholders, as well as the company's central (hub) and local (in-market) stakeholders, to
raise awareness, foster advocacy, and increase foot traffic for TK Maxx. You'll also manage
both external and in-house agencies. Another job role that is found in TK Maxx is the loss
prevention advisor. As a loss prevention advisor, the protection of people and profit is
fundamental. You will be focussed on deterring, detecting and investigating loss at store
level within designated locations. You will be confident in dealing with stock loss issues and
have the ability to remain calm and professional under pressure. Expect a balance of being
customer facing with also working behind the scenes in TK Maxx stores in order to carry out
the role effectively. Another job role that can be found in TK Maxx is the social compliance

,manager. As the social compliance manager, it will require leading any change management
and engagement initiatives to guarantee the achievement of TK Maxx's social compliance
goals in collaboration with the buying leadership team in order to identify critical risk areas
while balancing commercial potential. In addition to this, you will engage with factories to
address any shortcomings and establish solutions for major areas of risk, and work with the
purchasing community to manage vendor relationships in conformity with the auditing
process.

However, the job role in TK Maxx that I have decided to choose and continue with is the
sales associate role. This job consists of typical responsibilities include welcoming
customers, stocking shelves and racks, counting up sales at cash registers, and assisting
customers with finding things. Workers are also responsible for cleaning the store and
supervising the fitting rooms, if needed. The TK Maxx employer will make sure you have all
the tools you need to succeed and they will be there to help you along the way. According
to TK Maxx’s website, although retail experience isn't a necessity for a job, hiring managers
may favour candidates with previous retail experience. Prospective workers must be at least
16 years old and be able to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends, in order to
be considered for employment. Successful sales associates have excellent verbal
communication skills, vivacious personalities, and polished personal appearances.

job truly entails by outlining the activities and obligations that are expected of them. Each
business's supplementary information is unique. However, several crucial parts are always
supplied regardless of the business such as, title of the job, department & location, broad
terms, responsible to whom, responsibilities, scope of post, education & qualifications,
name of compiler & approver and date of issue. Person specification is the list of
requirements a person must posses in order to meet the demands of their employment. The
primary focus of a job description is to provide details about the position being filled. The
person specification compares favourably with the general description. It tells the
applicant what kind of individual the company is searching for to fill the position. A job
description includes various components, some of which elements such as general
intelligence, attainments, interests, attainment and qualifications, personality,
temperament, location in the management line, special aptitudes, hobbies and previous
experiences. However, the requirements listed in the person specification are specific to the
individual who will perform the work. It will begin with an introduction that includes
information about the position, such as the title, post reference number, and management
responsibilities, such as who the employee should report to and what they are responsible
for. It will then go into detail about the qualities that the business is looking for in a
candidate, such as their personality type or intellect level.

As previously mentioned, the description of the sales associate at TK Maxx includes typical
