The nervous system
Autonomic Nervous system
Neurons
Nerve tissue consists neurons that respond to stimuli in the environment by carrying
impulses to bring about a response.
Sympathetic system: brings about action and stimulates parts of the body.
Parasympathetic system: Slows down parts of the body.
Types of neurons
Sensory
Motor
, Inter-neuron
Found in the brain and spinal chord and are responsible for connecting two or more
neurons.
Movement of nerve impulses:
Synapses
Movement between Sensory and Motor neurons
Central nervous system
Brain: mass of soft tissue
Spinal chord: Long, cylindrical structure that extends from base of the brain and down the
back.
