First Activity
a) A dictionary activity, for vocabulary and dictionary skills development AFTER the class have
read or listened to your selected text.
This could be used later in the same lesson or in another lesson. You can use the vocabulary items
you have selected for pre-teaching or make a different selection. The vocabulary must be from the
text or clearly relevant to the text.

• Hand each student a dictionary and a worksheet.
• Call out a vocabulary item on the worksheet to the class; give
them the instruction that the first person to find the word

them the instruction to find a synonym for the word and write it down on
