Confidence Intervals CI) are basically the range of values we are fairly sure that our true
values falls within. According to El-Masri, M. (2012), CI is one of the most dependable
indicators of accurateness of our assumption. In week five, I gave the data for 10 nurses heights
which was as follows: 60”, 68”, 66”, 65”, 65”. 67”, 63”, 65”, 68”, and 61”. I chose a
convenience sample as I chose from 10 nurses in my workplace. It was quantitative continuous
as it has numbers and may involve fractions. Some faults of this are that it does not represent
the entire population. My choices were made based on ease of recruitment. This method can
also demonstrate bias which will skew the results. The last fault that I see is that there was no
study criteria developed for exclusion and inclusion. If I had chosen to utilize population
sampling, the entire population would have been my dataset and the estimates would have been
more reliable.
Data
60 Mean 64.8000
68 Sample Standard Deviation 2.7406
66

The point estimate is the mean of 64.8000 which indicates that the average height of the
ten nurses is 64.8 inches. The CI is Lower limit of 62.84 – upper limit of 66.76. I am 95%
confident that the true mean height of all of the employees in my company is between 62.84
inches to 66.76 inches.
