Physical Therapy Neuroscience
These are summarized notes for the important concepts in neuroscience for physical therapy. Goes into detail about general functional systems (sensory, motor, association). Describes parts of the cerebrum, cerebellum, spine, and accessory structures. Shows how the neural pathways and tracts are used by the CNS for communication. Also included is the vascular system, optic nerve system, olfactory system, gustatory system, auditory system, and vestibular system. Lectures: Nerve Tissue, Organization of the Nervous Neuronal Signals Development of the Nervous System Neuroanatomy I – Anatomic Terminology, Telencephalon, Diencephalon Neuroanatomy II – Brainstem, Cranial Nerves, Cerebellum Neuroanatomy III – Spinal Cord, Ventricular System, Meninges, Vasculature Gross Anatomy of the Human Nervous System Introduction to Perception, Somatosensory System I Somatosensory System II – Discriminative Touch and Proprioception, Pain and Temperature Visual System I – Eye Visual System II – Central Pathways Auditory System Vestibular System Olfactory & Gustatory Systems Autonomic Nervous System Hypothalamus, Emotional States Cognition I – Attention & Memory Cognition II – Higher Order Functions Plasticity, Healing, Aging
