My five-paragraph essay.
‘Do the dishes!’ ‘Clean your room!’ ‘Walk the dog!’ – You will most likely hear this every day, which
can be tiring. This can be the result of parents and teenagers having different opinions on the issue of
you needing to do chores. For instance, teenagers think parenting involves all household tasks and
assume that they do not need to do anything. Parents on the other hand, expect the teenagers to
help around the house. Personally speaking, teenagers should have chores since these are important
for their personal growth.

First off, by doing your chores you will learn responsibility, personal maintenance and learn how to
organize and prioritise. For example, when you make a mess, you should be the one to clean it up,
when you live with others you should help with the upkeep of the living areas and you should think
about what your most important task of the day is. As a result, these chores will help you develop
those traits.

Furthermore, the most important reason is that you will become more independent. For instance,
when you have learned how to handle certain situations like, dropping a vase or when you have
broken a glass, you will then be able to handle these situation on your own. This is because you have
learned how to handle those situations by handling your own chores. Therefore, your Independence
is of great importance when you want to live your life on your own.

However, if you don’t do your chores, you most likely need to deal with consequences in your future.
These can vary between lacking responsibility, not knowing how to keep up your household, to being
unable to do your daily tasks. In fact, when you grow up without experiences that you should have
gotten from your chores, you will be uneducated. As a result, you would then still need to undergo all
these learning processes on your own.

In conclusion, by doing your chores you will develop skills to properly maintain yourself, to set
priorities and to become a responsible person. Following this, you will become independent, which is
of great importance. If you do not do your chores you will most likely face consequences.
Furthermore, these are the reasons why chores are important and how they can affect their your
personal growth.
