● Anabolic and androgenic properties
● Have legitimate medical purposes
, - Take it with a grain of salt, questionnaires are not accurate, people don't want to
admit they're taking drugs/on steroids. Generally underreported in most cases
How are steroids used? (Parkinson and Evans, 2006)
● 95% stack
● 90% cycle
● 50% > = 6 months a year
● 10% year round
● Most people pyramid
● 99% inject
● 66% taking > 1000mg/wk
● Up to 6000 mg/wk
If a extra power pain reliever caplets were a steroid:
● Medical use would be 1/20th of a caplet a week
● 66% of users would take 5-30+ caplets a week
This is why there's not much scientific evidence for growth of muscle with steroid use -
researchers won't be able to ethically prescribe patients these measurements of steroids
Understanding motivation
● Level 1: Intrinsic rewards - Size, strength, power, appearance
● Level 2: Extrinsic rewards - Performance/win, attention, confidence, influence/respect
● Level 3: Human needs - Independence, connectedness, competence
