What is meant by population density
Population density refers to the number of people living within an are
(usually within one kilometre square)
Can you make 3-4 key points about how population density varie
across the UK
v High population density in South East, particularly around London an
also around central England (eg. Birmingham and Manchester)
v Very low densities around central Wales, northern Scotland and parts
northern England
v More people living in lower and flatter area than in hilly parts
v Most major towns are near/along major rivers

populated than others
v Some places are very remote with poor connections
v Less people in parts with very high rainfall
