Research proposal Part 1 ( 15%/70 PERCENT) divided into three sections ( October 8th
2021)
Problem or objective : Research proposals generally start with an introductory section
that describes a research problem and establishes its significance. This section answers
various important question that frame your research.
This part should be divided as follows
1. General topic or area of research. What is a general topic? Police Brutality is an
example of a very broad topic. In this part explain in a short paragraph why this
topic is important to research.
2. Determine research hypotheses and research questions. In this part you need to be
very specific. Attempt to condense the question into one sentence.
3. Explain your research idea in your words
(a) Why is it worth studying
(b) Does the proposed study have theoretical and or practical significance ?
(c) Does it contribute to new understanding of a phenomenon or does it treat
(d) What is the purpose of it ?
IMPORTANT- You are not expected to write a research paper but you are required to
submit a proposal or plan of a research topic.
