Change Management at Wegmans HRMD 650 Midterm Exam Professor Table of Contents Managing Change 2 Organizations Problem 3 Solving the Problem 4 Applying Change Management to the Problem 5 Conclusion 7 Works Cited 9 Managing Change Change management can be defined as the discipline that guides how we prepare, equip and support individuals to successfully adopt change in order to drive organizational success and outcome (What Is Change Management? 2017). Change in organizations is the cause for many issues that arise in the workplace. Instituting change within an organization can cause employees to lack motivation, lower productivity, unacceptance of new roles or rules, and can potentially increase employee turnover (Anderson, 2015). In many instances change is looked at as a negative proponent of the workplace; when in fact it should be looked at as a positive action to improve work efficiency improve old outdated rules or regulation, and a positive way to help manage the workload of a team. As mention in Change Management Needs a Change, “Quit thinking about change as something that is negative.” Change in general shouldn’t be viewed as an event, but more as a way to improve everyday life in the workplace (Welbourne, 2014). The change management theory in general has different concepts that help organizations implement their new changes, with minimal pushback from their employees.
