, 1. INTRODUCTION
In this assignment I will be covering the aspects of the Family Life Cycle Model developed by Carter
and McGoldrick (1989) (Petty, 2006, pp. 76-79) and the assumptions on which it is based on. I will
explain the stages of the family life cycle model by looking at every key principle of each stage as
well as the second order changes in each stage. I will introduce my family of three that is
experiencing stage three of the family life cycle model. Furthermore, I will list the key principles and
second-order changes that the family is experiencing. The strengths of the family I interviewed will
also be discussed in detail but also the stressors they have experienced in their marriage. Horizontal-
and vertical stressors will be explained to paint a clear picture of the type of stressors the couple has
dealt with. The assignment will follow with my conclusion and the Genogram of the family.
