Unit 4 Assignment 4

City College Plymouth website page
Strengths
-All the information on one website
All the information most people will need about the college and the courses offered (etc) are on
one website, so anyone with access to the internet has access to this information and is able to
find what they need
-Able to search
The college website allows you to search, so customers are easily able to find what they are
looking for, even if it something more niche that isn’t on the website menu page, this means
customers are able to navigate the site easily and quickly even when looking for something
specific.
-Links
On the website, the college are able to link to other pages on the site or other pages on the
internet that are needed, for example from the bottom of the website you can be linked to the
page about courses, apprenticeships, etc. This makes it easier and quicker for the college to
communicate all the needed information and for customers to find this information.

Weaknesses
-Updated less frequently
The website isn't updated as often as the facebook page and is unable to communicate urgent
information to students easily because they may not check the website and find the specific
information, whereas on the facebook page students can turn notifications on for it and see it in
their social media
-Can’t have personal communication
On the facebook page, the college is able to reply to any comments / questions people may
have, whereas this isn't an option on the website. People can email the college, however this
isn't a feature of the website and they can’t get immediate replies in the same way possible on
social media.
-Is open to everyone
Whilst the website being able to be accessed by everyone is a good thing, it can also be a
weakness because you may only want to communicate some information to certain people and
you are unable to do this on a website as any information can be accessed by anyone.

Improvements for the corporate communication
The intended audience for the City College Plymouth website is students, members of staff,
and potential students. The website appeals to the audience as it is clear and easy to use and
navigate, however an improvement they could make is having a page where it shows any posts
from the facebook or twitter page, so you can see these updates from the website too. Although
the website has links to Facebook and Twitter, not everyone has these social medias and
