Young people in Nazi Germany
At school
-If you had been 16 years old, you were a strong supporter of Adolf Hitler
-Your teacher would have been a proof teacher had been on a training
course run by the National Socialist Teachers Alliance
-At school you would learn about the history of Germany and how the
German army was stabbed in the back by the weak politicians who had
made peace in 1918
-Remembering the hardships of the 1920’s yourself was good for Hitler,
but were told it was because the Jews had been squeezing profits out of
honour will Germans
-By the time you're senior student your studies in history and make you
sure that the loyalty to the Führer was right and good
-Your biology would tell you that you’re a special member of the Aryan
race who is which is superior in intelligence and strength to the subhuman
Jews and Slavs of Eastern Europe
-In maths there would be questions like this one:
--The Jews are aliens in Germany. in 1933 there are 66,060,000
inhabitants of the German Reich of which 499, 862 are Jews. What is the
percentage of aliens in Germany
-You would not be expected to go to University
In Hitler youth
-Outside of school the propaganda continued
-If you're a boy you would have been in the German young people big
from the age of 10 to 14 if girls had similar organisations
-You then have moved on to Hitler youth for boys or the League of
German maidens for girls
--You too have marched in exciting parades flout bands
--You would probably be physically fit
--Your leisure time would also be advice to Hitler and the Nazis
--You'd be a strong cross country runner
--You'd be confident at reading Maps
--After years of summer camp should be comfortable camping outside
--If you're a boy you would know how to clean a rifle and keep finger
condition
--If you're a girl you be taught sewing cooking and other domestic tasks
that would teach you how to be a good German mother
-You'd be attracted to Nazi youth movements by leisure organise
opportunities they offered
-There were no alternatives
-All other youth organisations had been absorbed or made illegal
-By 1936 Hitler Youth had 6 million members
-If you did not join it, it would have looked suspicious or surprising
