Implications of External Influences
Throughout the healthcare industry, all organizations are faced with external influences
that impact talent acquisition networks. Hospitals differ from all other facilities due to the
acuity of care provided. There are various departments and positions within the hospital setting
that recruiters must ensure are properly staffed to meet the needs of all patients and services
offered. Some of the most critical areas for hospital staff to consider when hiring include
flexible scheduling, advancement opportunities, competition, telehealth abilities, impact of
changes in health care, demographics, patient cooperation, and cultural competence.
Tele health
Telehealth has become especially popular during the current pandemic to reduce
contact to help control the spread of COVID-19. There are both advantages and disadvantages
with telehealth. Advantages include more direct time with patients, helps reduce the impacts
of the nationwide nursing shortage, reaches people in rural areas that do not have access to
transportation, and “reduces healthcare costs by decreasing emergency department visits and
hospital admissions. It also is a valuable tool in managing chronic illnesses, and improves
nurse utilization throughout hospital departments” (Teladoc Health, Inc., 2021). The
