Part I: Analysis and Interpretation
Interview Data:
1. Select an appropriate analytic procedure to code your interview data.
2. Code your data using a qualitative data analysis program or by hand in a separate document. This
process must identify (1) codes and themes, (2) sub-codes, (3) categories, and (4) subcategories.
a. Discuss your approach to coding the interview data. What procedure(s) did you select? Justify
your response.
The approach to code was the data transcription procedure with multiples researchers to
create themes, codes, sub-codes, categories, and subcategories of data. This data coding
procedure is appropriate for this study because it allows wording, which is significant in
gathering accurate information about the community without changing a sentence. The
multiple researchers in data coding are justified because to reduce possible conflict of
interest by eliminating any link between those coding data and the researcher.
3. Examine the results of your analytic procedure(s).
a. Identify 2 or 3 initial assertions based on your interpretation of the interview data. Discuss how
you arrived at each assertion.
The first assertion was that no challenges would be faced during the interview, and the
circumstances prevailing in the interview sessions would facilitate a smooth interview
process. The second assertion was that the interviewees would be comparative and
provide sincere responses to the interview questions. I arrive at these assertions because
the interview process entailed a dynamic situation that required effective strategies to
achieve a positive outcome. Thus, the assertions were proactive measures to mitigate any
issue and challenge that may arise in the course of the study
b. Synthesize your initial assertions into a key assertion about the central phenomenon in your mock
study.
The key assertions about the phenomenon of the mock study are that the interviewees will
cooperate with the interviewer and provide accurate responses that can be sued to gather
information about the central phenomenon of study. It is also assumed that any challenge
that arises during the interview shall be carefully overcome to achieve better interview
outcomes and responses.
Observation Data:
1. Review the Observation Guide you completed in Week 6, paying attention to your field notes
and detailed narrative passages.
2. Compose 2 or 3 analytic memos triggered by your field notes.

a. Memo 1:
I have learned from the observation the there is an increase in public support for
euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide in the United States and Western Europe. At
the same time, Central and Eastern Europe showed decreasing support for euthanasia and
physician-assisted suicide. There is increasing legalization of EPAS, especially for cancer
patients.
b. Memo 2:
The observation of the participants in this study revealed that the perception of families
of the victims who have requested assisted suicide and euthanasia lack public awareness
about the practice. It would thus be imperative for the relevant government authorities to
conduct informed public debates on these issues by creating a compatible normative
framework.
c. Memo 3:
My observation of the families in their setting during the study revealed that women form
a majority of the persons receiving euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide. However,
the majority of these women are those who are psychiatric disorders. I also realized that
the women who request for euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide come from diverse
social, cultural backgrounds with varying ages with chronic and complex medical,
psychosocial, and chronic psychiatric histories. However, it is imperative to look into the
possibility of promoting a considerable physician judgment involving multiple physicians
with a differing opinion to take part in the decision-making process before patients are
granted their PAS request.
3. Compose a meta-memo that synthesizes the primary elements from your analytic memos into a new
whole.
Euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide are major concerns among families of
terminally ill patients because of the psychological impacts that such a decision drives the
families. The observation of the families within their setting and the hospital revealed that
most of the patients who decided to request physician-assisted did not consult their
family members and did so solely for their benefit. Conversely, the decision left the
families heartbroken and frustrated.

you arrived at each assertion.
My first assertion about the interpretation of the result of the interview is that the
outcome of the interview revealed the true perception, opinion, and views of the families
about their loved ones requesting physician-assisted suicide. My second assertion was
that the number of families who approve the practice of physician-assisted suicide was
more than the number of families who have a contrary view of the practice. I arrived at
these assertions based on the previous literature that has shown that many families who
have had their members go through euthanasia and physician-assisted suicide have
