ARCHITECTURE
Computer system can be understood at two levels:
• CA (Computer Architecture)
→ the principles of the house → what can be done?
• CO (Computer Organization)
→ plumbing, wiring, construction techniques → how is it built?
, COMPUTER ARCHITECTURE
Computer Architecture tells us the design and capabilities of
a computer.
Instruction set (ADD, SUB, LOAD, etc.)
Data types
Registers visible to programmer
Addressing modes Architecture = House map
How many rooms?
Where is kitchen?
How many floors?
It tells what exists, not how it is built inside.
