However, my generation’s hopes will be tested by challenges such as climate change and job
disruption caused by automation and increased AI intervention. Even now, we can see that
some companies, like Amazon, use robots instead of humans in warehouses, and that robots
mostly work in the car industry. This is because robots don’t require wages and can work
24/7.
Despite these facts, there are reasons to stay hopeful. Statistics show that more clean energy
is being produced than ever before, and environmental restoration initiatives are taking place
around the world to avert climate change. Furthermore, AI tends to enhance jobs in IT and
medicine by increasing people’s productivity, rather than replacing them. This demonstrates
that we are unlikely to be undermined either by climate change or AI.
