Ionic bond

Give this one a try later!

A complete transfer of electrons between two atoms results in separate
positively charged and negatively charged ions.

Results of bone remodeling

Give this one a try later!

- Woven bone remodeled into lamellar bone
- Bone thickness increases
- Bone shape changes
- Bone adjusts to stress, repair, altered calcium

,Lipids Function and Composition

Give this one a try later!

Function: Protection, Insulation, Regulation, Vitamins, Structure, Energy
Composition: carbon, hydrogen, and oxygen

ATP powered pump

Give this one a try later!

ATP-powered pumps move specific ions or molecules across the
membrane using ATP to provide energy. Move specific ions or molecules
across the membrane; require ATP molecules to function

Plasma membrane function

Give this one a try later!

Separation, regulation, communication, and structure
(Outside of the membrane is positive, and the inside of the membrane is
negative)

Channel Proteins

Give this one a try later!

, One or more integral membrane proteins arranged so that they form a tiny
channel through the plasma membrane

Cross-bridge movement

Give this one a try later!

A cycle of events resulting in contraction proceeds very rapidly

Differences between smooth muscles and skeletal muscles

Give this one a try later!

smooth muscle has a slower contraction speed than skeletal muscle. This
difference is due to several factors. In smooth muscle, some of the Ca2+
required to initiate contractions enters the cell from the extracellular fluid
and from the sarcoplasmic reticulum. Therefore, it is the greater distance
that Ca2+ must diffuse, the slower rate at which action potentials are
propagated between smooth muscle cells, and the slower rate of cross-
bridge formation between actin and myosin myofilaments that are all
responsible for the slower contraction of smooth muscle.

Action Potential Propagation

Give this one a try later!

• "Propagate" - to spread from one location to another
• AP does not move along the membrane: new AP is generated at each
successive location
• "All-or-none" principle: AP are all identical

, • Frequency: number of APs produced per unit of time; stronger stimulus =
higher frequency

Carbohydrate Monomer

Give this one a try later!

Monosaccaride

The Synapse

Give this one a try later!

• Junction between a neuron and another cell
• Site where action potentials in one cell cause action potentials in another
cell
• Types of cells in synapse - Presynaptic
- Postsynaptic

Basic functional unit of the muscle

Give this one a try later!

sarcomere (made of actin myofilament and myosin myofilament)

What characteristic is the same between intramembranous ossification and
endochondral ossification?
