“The Role of the BSN Nurse in Promoting Community Health”
Formal Paper
H. 1. Justification of Course Elements
Module 1: “Defining the Role of the Community Health Nurse”
The course elements include course objectives, student learning outcomes, resources, and
activities. The first module is titled “Defining the Role of the Community Health Nurse.” The
course objectives and student learning outcomes include the students being able to determine the
difference between clinical and community health nursing, being able to define what community
health nursing is, and explaining the responsibilities of a community health nurse. The activity
chosen for this module is collaborative learning, and the resource used to help develop the
activity is Computing & Communications Center Cornell University (2022). This activity will
stimulate and challenge students to think about the answers for the quiz themselves first, then get
together with the group to compare answers and get the viewpoints of others so they can
compare their thought processes with others in the group. After this, they will all come up with a
consensus of what the best answer to each question should be. Doing this encourages student
development of nursing knowledge, skills, and competencies by learning to think critically
together as a group and putting their ideas together. This course will encourage the student’s
development not only by learning how to use clinical judgment but also how to work with others
using collaboration.
Module 2: “Community Health Assessment”
The second module is titled “Community Health Assessment.” The course objectives and
student learning outcomes include the students being able to collect data necessary for a
community health assessment aimed at a specific cause, analyze this information, give examples
